2010 Asia Tour – A new era in Financial Services
On October 28, The BVI International Finance Centre and delegates from the BVI government and private sectors started their visit of key financial centers in Asia—Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong—for exclusive business conferences.
The symposiums were well received and reached over 600 service providers in Asia, ranging from legal firms to trust companies.
This tour was specially important to the BVI Financial Services industry given that Asia represents 70 percent of company corporations in the BVI.
IFC Executive Director, Ms. Sherri Ortiz said, “The high level of participation from the private sector and Asian delegates is a clear demonstration of how important these jurisdictions are to the Territory.”
This event also illustrated the jurisdiction’s continued commitment to inform global practitioners of the benefits and opportunities available in doing business with the Virgin Islands.
The Asian Tour was a part of the BVI International Finance Centre’s mission to market the Virgin Islands’ financial services industry and promote the Territory’s reputation as a globally integrated and responsible financial services centre.

The Government recently announced that the new BVI Companies Act, 2004 will be enacted on January 1, 2005 as an enhancement of the current IBC legislation.
